Clonidine patch and dry mouth
Written by: Dr. Rowena | Posted: Jan 11 2009
Q: My doctor says that my Clonidine patch does not cause dry mouth, but since I’ve started using the patches I’ve been unable to sleep because my mouth and throat are SO dry. Should I be concerned about this?
A: According to Gold Standard Inc. 2008, dry mouth or xerostomia, is a known adverse reaction to Clonidine. As this side effect is interfering with your ability to sleep, it is certainly a concern. You need to discuss this further with your doctor.
