My blood pressure medications make me feel tired, is this normal?

Written by: Dr. Rowena | Posted: Sep 26 2007

Q: My BP meds make me feel extremely fatigued. Is this normal?

A: Fatigue can be a side effect of blood pressure medication but being tired can also be a symptom of serious disease. It needs to be evaluated by a physician. If you are taking a diuretic, increasing the potassium in your diet may help. Common foods rich in potassium are bananas, dried fruits, beets, greens, and dried beans.
