Written by: Dr. Rowena | Posted: Oct 10 2008

Q: Recent blood work showed I have a high range of Ferritin. Normal range is 20-400, the test result showed 656. In regard to high blood pressure, what does this indicate?

A: A high level of iron, known as ferritin, in the blood is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. So is high blood pressure. With each risk factor, your chances of having a heart attack or stroke increases.
