Low potassium and hypertension

Written by: Dr. Rowena | Posted: Jul 14 2009

Q: Does a low potassium level increase your blood pressure?

A: Not eating enough potassium containing foods is associated with an increased risk of developing high blood pressure. Potassium is found in commonly available fresh fruits and vegetables such as bananas, oranges, spinach and carrots. For a good discussion on the role of potassium in the body click here.
