Can high blood pressure cause stomach viruses?

Written by: Dr. Rowena | Posted: Sep 21 2007

Q: My BP was high one night and I woke up the next morning with a stomach virus. Is this common?

A: In my opinion, the two events are probably not related but if you were getting sick and take blood pressure medicine, the drug might not have been absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract as a result of the virus. You should check with your physician.
