Can blood pressure medication lower blood sugar levels?

Written by: Dr. Rowena | Posted: Sep 03 2008

Q: Can BP meds make you have blood low sugar? I do not have diabetes.

A: Certain blood pressure medications can interfere with the way the body metabolizes sugar to maintain normal blood sugar levels. Without additional information about your medications and your blood sugar levels, cause and effect can’t be determined. You should let your doctor know about your concerns.
